 Managing others comes with a unique combination of opportunities and challe
 nges. Many managers struggle with knowing how to use influencing skills eff
 ectively when working with and beyond their teams\, especially when complex
  situations or difficult conversations arise. In this session\, we will tal
 k about different influence strategies and how to use them to your advantag
 e in the workplace.</p><p><strong>Course Objectives:</strong><br />By the e
 nd of this session\, participants will be able to identify influence challe
 nges in serving as a frontline or middle manager and develop practical stra
 tegies to address those challenges. Learners will also be able to apply inf
 luencing strategies to effectively communicate with and manage others. Part
 icipants will also be able to identify colleagues across WashU with whom th
 ey can connect regarding this topic.</p><p><strong>Target Audience</strong>
 : This workshop is for all Washington University in St. Louis staff who ser
 ve as people managers and supervisors.</p><p><strong>Facilitator:</strong> 
 Ellen Levine\, Senior Organization Development Consultant</p><p>Ellen has o
 ver 30 years of experience in higher education\, public and private corpora
 tions\, and organizational consulting. She has led efforts in leadership an
 d organization development\, executive coaching\, design and delivery of tr
 aining solutions\, strategic planning\, change management\, team building\,
  employee engagement\, diversity/equity/inclusion\, and human resource func
 tions. As a trusted partner\, Ellen has collaborated extensively with execu
 tives and senior leaders in multiple industries including brewing\, manufac
 turing and operations\, wholesale distribution\, retail\, and non-profit ma
 nagement. In the past\, she has served as the Director of Learning & Develo
 pment for Graybar Electric Company\, the Director of Leadership & Organizat
 ion Development for Anheuser-Busch\, and the Associate Director of the Care
 er Center at Washington University. Ellen holds an M.Ed. in Counseling Psyc
 hology from the University of Missouri and a B.A. in Anthropology from Maca
 lester College.</p><p><strong>An important note:</strong> This session is b
 eing held virtually. We recommend calling in from a physical computer in a 
 private space or with access to headphones and microphone to ensure you can
