Zoller appointed Associate Director of Clinical Anesthesiology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital

Following a comprehensive search and rigorous interview process, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Zoller, MD, as the Associate Director of Clinical Anesthesiology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

In this senior clinical leadership role, Dr. Zoller will partner with and assist the Vice-Chair for Health System Liaison and Director of Clinical Anesthesiology, Ivan Kangrga, MD, PhD, in leading the department’s clinical team and collaborating with BJH Perioperative Services and leaders in surgery and interventional medicine. Together, they will support daily operations and strategic planning, and promote safe, efficient, and equitable healthcare delivery across BJH operating rooms and procedural areas. As Associate Director, Dr. Zoller will also champion professionalism, teamwork, and a culture of inclusivity, continuous learning, and innovation within the clinical team. Additionally, Dr. Zoller will serve as the Medical Director of the Post Anesthesia Care Units (PACU) on the BJH Campus. In this capacity, he will work with BJH leaders to oversee operations, safety, and quality across the PACUs on the academic campus.

Dr. Zoller earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, followed by an adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship at WashU Medicine. Dr. Zoller joined the faculty in 2017 and currently serves as an associate professor.

“Dr. Zoller’s dedication to clinical excellence and his collaborative approach make him an invaluable addition to our leadership team,” said Kangrga. “He is an expert perioperative physician in cardiothoracic and general operating rooms, and is also a member of the liver transplant team. He has made significant contributions to clinical operations, patient safety, and education through his roles as a POD 3 Leader, Director of the WUDA Perioperative TEE program, leader in LVAD for non-cardiac surgery education, and contributor to numerous quality improvement initiatives. We are confident that he will significantly contribute to our department’s mission of advancing patient care and a culture of safety.”

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Zoller on his new role and in supporting him as he continues to advance clinical excellence.
