Three of our physicians traveled to El Salvador as part of Surgical Outreach for the Americas (SoFA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to safe surgical care in resource-limited settings.

In honor of Sandy Hawes, the department has established the Sandy Hawes Award, an annual award recognizing department members who possess excellent communication skills, are supportive in nature, well-poised, dedicated, and go above and beyond the call of duty, all of which Sandy displayed during her 30+ years of employment at WashU.

Erin & Sara traveled to Sonsonate, El Salvador, with the Surgical Outreach for the Americas (SOFA) where they completed 53 hernia repairs.

The STAR Program provides training to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career within research administration.

Honoring the area’s leading Black medical professionals. The award was designed to encourage African Americans to pursue careers in the health care field, by highlighting local African Americans who are excelling in the field.

This prestigious award recognizes outstanding nurses who exhibit a remarkable level of dedication and proficiency in the nursing field.
