Research Interests

Dr. Kannampallil’s research interests are broadly in the areas of clinical decision support, medical errors, and clinical cognition.

Dr. Kannampallil was previously the Director of primary care informatics research at University of Illinois, and assistant director of the Center for Cognitive Studies in Medicine and Public Health at the New York Academy of Medicine. He was also a researcher at the National Center for Cognitive Informatics and Decision Making at University of Texas, and Beckman Institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Kannampallil received a PhD in Communication from the University of Illinois. His research is focused on integrating cognitive and computational informatics techniques for developing health information technology solutions in the areas of clinical decision support, clinical reasoning/decision making, and clinical workflow. Prior to joining Washington University, Dr. Kannampallil, served in research and operational positions at the University of Illinois, The New York Academy of Medicine, and the University of Texas.
