Residents from the Department of Anesthesiology at WashU Medicine presented their research and case reports at the 2025 Midwest Anesthesia Resident Conference (MARC), held April 25–27 in Indianapolis.
The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at WashU Medicine has selected Burel Goodin, PhD, professor of anesthesiology, as the recipient of the 2025 Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award.
Roberta Teixeira Tallarico, MB, a first-year anesthesiology resident, recently had her T32 Research Fellowship project published in JAMA Surgery on April 30, 2025. Her study, “Postoperative Outcomes Among Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter 2 Inhibitor Users,” explores how a newer type of medication, called sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i), may influence surgical recovery.

Dr. Musleh nominated by medical students for the 2025 Humanism in Medicine Award which honors faculty who are caring and compassionate mentors, & serve as role models in the teaching and advising of students.

Ben Fiori, RN, senior manager of clinical trials and operations, has been selected to receive the 2025 WashU Medicine Research Support Distinguished Honors Award.
Dolores Njoku, MD, has been selected as a 2025–2026 Fellow in the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program.
