The Department of Anesthesiology at WashU Medicine offers student rotation opportunities for Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) and Physician Assistant (PA) students interested in completing an elective rotation in Critical Care Medicine. We welcome applicants who are motivated, passionate, and eager to embark on a challenging, yet rewarding, rotation in critical care medicine.
As a member of our interprofessional team, you will collaborate closely with physicians, APPs, RNs, pharmacists, and other support services in the care of your patients. As a student, your primary duties and responsibilities will include:
- Obtaining comprehensive medical histories from patients and their families.
- Conducting thorough physical examinations, assessing the status of patients, and identifying changes.
- Participating in multidisciplinary rounds, and contributing to the development and implementation of patient plans.
- Learning to interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory work and imaging studies.
- Performing procedures under direct supervision.
