Abigail Petersen, MD
Resident Physician
Abigail is a current CA-2 resident physician in the Department of Anesthesiology. She is most often referred to by her friends and family as Abby. Abby was born and raised in Humboldt County, an area in the Redwood Coastal region of Northern California, located several hundred miles north of the California Bay Area. For her undergraduate studies, Abby attended California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt, where she studied Cellular Biology and Chemistry. She went on to earn her medical degree at Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland. Abby is a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, where she currently serves at the rank of Captain. Following residency, she plans to continue her career in the Air Force and is excited about the unique opportunity Air Force Anesthesia offers for general practice, academics, and field critical care.
When not working, Abby enjoys spending time with her husband and fellow Air Force Captain and physician, Caleb, and their doodle pup, Mickey. They appreciate opportunities for long walks, running, traveling, and any time they can spend near the water. They can also be found partaking in their guilty pleasure- watching the Bachelor franchise!
