Industry Awards
Jeremy Thompson, MD, PhD, recently received a $250,000 Mentored Research Training Grant from the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) for his project titled, “Molecular Adaptations in Mesolimbic Dopamine Neurons Underlying the Transition from Acute to Chronic Pain.”
Bernadette Henrichs, PhD, CRNA, CCRN, CHSE, FAANA, FAAN, a professor and director of the Nurse Anesthesia Program at Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing, was inducted into American Academy of Nursing’s 2023 class of fellows at the academy’s annual Health Policy Conference on October 7 in Washington, D.C. This prestigious recognition celebrates Dr. Henrichs’ achievements and contributions to the field of nursing, in addition to her commitment to advancing public health.
Sydney Nykiel-Bailey, DO, has been selected to participate in the Mid-Career Women Faculty Leadership Development Seminar, a rigorous program offered by the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC).
Head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Dr. Michael S. Avidan, has been elected to the National Academy of Medicine, a part of the National Academy of Sciences. Membership in the organization is one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine in the United States.
New Appointments
Dr. Levent Sahin joined the Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University in St. Louis on October 23, 2023. He will have a primary appointment in the Division of Regional and Ambulatory Anesthesiology.
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Alex Paladino joined the Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University in St. Louis on September 1, 2023. He will have an appointment in the Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology.
Jose Moron-Concepcion, PhD, a professor of anesthesiology, neuroscience, and psychiatry, was installed as the Henry Elliot Mallinckrodt Professor of Anesthesiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis on Thursday, September 28, 2023.
