The Perioperative Blood Management Project—led by WashU anesthesiologists, Megan Dewey, MD, and Sunny Lou, MD, PhD—was selected as the winner for the 2021 Team Award for Quality Improvement from BJC HealthCare for its success in reducing blood product waste in the operating rooms.

Dr. Joanna Abraham, assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and the Institute for Informatics, has been named the 2021 recipient of the American Medical Informatics Association’s (AMIA) Diana Forsythe Award, which was presented at the AMIA’s annual symposium, Oct. 30-Nov. 3, 2021.
