Jamie Brown-Shpigel, MD, and Mohammed Helwani, MD, MSPH, have been appointed as Assistant Residency Program Directors in the Department of Anesthesiology. In addition, Dr. Brown-Shpigel has also been appointed Trauma Fellowship Program Director.
Justin Knittel, MD, has been appointed as the Division Chief of Trauma Anesthesiology, effective July 1, 2024.
Members of our Division of Trauma Anesthesiology took part in the 57th Turkish Society of Anesthesiology and Reanimation Congress, held in Antalya, Turkey, from November 2-5, 2023. The team delivered insightful presentations that left an indelible mark on attendees.

Dr. Charles Baysinger has joined the Divisions of Critical Care Medicine and General Anesthesiology at Washington University as a Voluntary Clinical Instructor of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Knittel, a highly trusted and accomplished leader in trauma anesthesiology, recently accepted the position of Section Chief of Trauma Anesthesiology in our General Anesthesiology Division.
