We are extremely pleased to announce that Ryan King, MD, PhD has accepted the role of an Anesthesiology Physician Leader in POD 5 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJH). Dr. King will be joining Dr. Muthuraj Kanakaraj and Dr. Menelaos Karanikolas to lead POD 5 and will work closely with WashU Medicine and BJH perioperative leaders in supporting faculty and staff, and promoting safety, quality, and efficiency of perioperative care at BJH. He will further our efforts toward enhancing teamwork, and ensuring that POD 5 is a nurturing and safe environment for all members of the healthcare team.
Dr. King earned his bachelor’s degree in physics and mathematics from the University of Virginia. He completed his MD and PhD from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Dr. King came to WashU Medicine in 2014 to complete his residency in anesthesiology and stayed for a fellowship in abdominal organ transplant. He joined us as an instructor in 2019 and concurrently served as a BJC innovation lab fellow. Dr. King was promoted to assistant professor in 2021.
