The Department of Anesthesiology is pleased to announce that Woo Kyung Lee, MD, has accepted the role of the Anesthesiology Physician Leader for POD 2 on the Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJH) campus. In this important clinical leadership role, Dr. Lee will work closely with anesthesiology, surgery, and BJH perioperative leadership to promote the safety, quality, and efficiency of patient care on the BJH Campus, with the focus on POD 2.
With training in both anesthesiology and critical care medicine, Dr. Lee will be an enormous asset to our existing POD 2 leadership by integrating and transitioning patient care between POD 2 operating rooms and intensive care units. Dr. Lee will support OR teams, further our efforts toward collaboration and teamwork at BJH, and ensure that POD 2 is a nurturing and safe environment for patients and all members of the healthcare team.
Dr. Lee earned her medical degree from Yonsei College of Medicine, Seoul, South Korea. She completed her residency in Anesthesiology, and fellowships in Critical Care, then in Cardiac Anesthesia, at the same institution. In the US, Dr. Lee completed fellowships in Emergency Medicine at Piedmont Macon Medical Center (Macon, Georgia) and in Critical Care at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Dr. Lee joined the Department of Anesthesiology in August of 2024. She currently serves as Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and works clinically as an anesthesiologist and intensivist.

We would also like to take this opportunity to formally recognize and thank Dr. Chris Lee for his years of dedication and commitment as a POD 2 leader. In this role, he consistently demonstrated leadership and integrity, clinical excellence, while promoting patient safety and building lasting relationships with our surgical partners and OR nursing teams. We look forward to building on the foundation Dr. Chris Lee has created in POD 2. Dr. Chris Lee remains on faculty as Professor of Anesthesiology and a valued member of the department.
