We are pleased to announce that Trish Wilkinson, MSN, ACNP-BC, has been appointed as the new Director of Critical Care Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) for the Division of Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology.

Trish has been a member of our division for more than 14 years, growing alongside our APP program. Since joining as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in 2012, she has served in several leadership roles, including ICU Lead, Assistant Director of the APP Program, and most recently, Director of Clinical Operations. In her current role, she has helped lead recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, scheduling, credentialing, and clinical operations for our APP group across both our academic and community ICUs.
In addition to her clinical leadership, Trish brings extensive leadership experience from nearly three decades of service in the United States Air Force Reserve, where she currently serves as Commander of the 446th Aeromedical Staging Squadron. Her experience leading teams through growth and operational change, combined with her deep divisional knowledge and commitment to our APPs, will be tremendous assets as she assumes this role.
As Director, Trish will provide strategic leadership for a growing APP program of nearly 100 providers practicing across academic hospitals, community hospitals, and tele-critical care. Her immediate priorities will focus on strengthening our APP leadership structure, developing a flexible and sustainable critical care workforce, supporting recruitment and retention, and fostering professional development, education, quality, and collaboration across our growing clinical enterprise.
Honoring Beth Beyatte’s Outstanding Leadership
As we welcome Trish to this new role, we also extend our deepest gratitude to Beth Beyatte, DNP, ACNP-BC, for her extraordinary leadership over nearly two decades as APP Director.
Beth has been foundational to the growth and identity of our APP program. As the first acute care nurse practitioner in critical care at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and within the BJC health system, she helped define and integrate the ACNP role in critical care, developed our early orientation and practice infrastructure, and has led the department’s Critical Care APP group since 2001. What began as a very small group in a single ICU has grown into one of the defining strengths of our division, with APPs now integral to critical care delivery across our academic and community hospitals and tele-critical care program.
Beth’s impact extends well beyond our division. Since 2008, she has also led the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program at Goldfarb School of Nursing, developing curriculum and training generations of acute care nurse practitioners. As she transitions from APP Director, Beth will devote greater focus to expanding ACNP educational initiatives at Goldfarb. We are incredibly grateful for everything she has done to build and support our APP program, and we are excited to see the continued impact of her leadership in this next chapter.
Please join us in congratulating Trish on her new role and thanking Beth for her decades of exceptional leadership and transformational service to our division and department.
