Scientific studies supporting the benefits of meditation and mindfulness are mentioned, and instructions on accessing the Calm app and sharing the subscription with family members will be provided in the upcoming week.

Lattanand appointed as Vice-Chair for Clinical Operations

Chak Lattanand, MD, MBA, has been appointed as a Vice-Chair for Clinical Operations for Washington University’s Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Lattanand will provide crucial leadership, including managing the clinical business of the department, and providing expertise in the areas of financial clinical operations, strategic planning, and contract/affiliation negotiations and management.

Goldfarb School of Nursing, including the nurse anesthesia program, celebrated its commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Powell Symphony Hall.

Memorial award established in honor of Sandy Hawes

In honor of Sandy Hawes, a beloved friend and dedicated member of the Department of Anesthesiology, the department has established the Sandy Hawes Memorial Award, an annual award recognizing department members who possess excellent communication skills, are supportive in nature, well-poised, dedicated, and go above and beyond the call of duty.
