Dan Fernandez, MD, appointed POD 2 Leader

We are extremely pleased to announce that Dr. Daniel Fernandez has accepted the role of an Anesthesiology POD 2 Leader. In this exciting clinical leadership role, Dr. Fernandez will be partnering with WUSM colleagues, BJH perioperative leadership, and frontline clinicians in promoting safety, quality, and efficiency of perioperative care in POD 2. Dr. Fernandez will further our efforts towards enhancing teamwork, diversity and inclusion, and to ensure that POD 2 is a nurturing and safe environment for all members of the healthcare team, including residents, fellows, CRNAs, SRNAs, medical students, and nursing trainees.

Dr. Fernandez received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. He completed residency in Anesthesiology in 2020 and a Regional Anesthesia Fellowship in 2021, both at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJH) and Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Fernandez is currently an instructor in the Divisions of General and Regional Anesthesia and works as an attending anesthesiologist in the BJH general operating rooms and on the regional anesthesia service.

Dr. Fernandez is a highly trained physician who will add great value to this important leadership position. Besides the significant direct contributions to the quality of patient care at BJH, Dr. Fernandez has already demonstrated great leadership potential. He will continue in the tradition of excellence in POD 2 leadership along with our MD and CRNA POD leaders.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Fernandez on assuming this important clinical leadership position.  We look forward to working with him in this new capacity.
