The department is excited to announce the appointment of Danish Jaffer, MD, as the Clinical Director of Labor and Delivery in the Division of Obstetric Anesthesiology, effective January 1, 2025. In this role, Dr. Jaffer will work closely with the Division Chief of Obstetric Anesthesiology and other divisional leaders to establish, evaluate, and refine care standards for obstetric patients. He will oversee the implementation of new care pathways and clinical protocols, ensuring their seamless integration across the system as needed.
Dr. Jaffer joined the department in July 2021, bringing expertise from his anesthesia residency and obstetric anesthesiology fellowship at WashU Medicine. Since then, he has been an invaluable member of the team. He currently serves as Program Director for the Obstetric Anesthesiology fellowship and as Resident Rotation Coordinator for the division. In these roles, Dr. Jaffer has significantly enhanced the educational experience for trainees by organizing faculty lectures, leading journal club discussions on key topics, and actively seeking feedback from faculty to ensure trainees meet their training milestones.
“Dr. Jaffer is widely respected for his clinical expertise and his outstanding ability to foster collaboration,” said the Chief of Obstetric Anesthesiology, Arvind Palanisamy, MD. “These qualities will undoubtedly serve him well as he takes on his new responsibilities.”
The department is excited for Dr. Jaffer to lead the team and looks forward to his continued contributions in the years ahead.
