Taking call begins after completion of two complete OR rotations following anesthesia tutorial at the beginning of CA-1 year. Call shifts split among general ORs, cardiothoracic/liver, OB and peds.
Call shifts begin after completing two full OR rotations, which occur following an anesthesia tutorial at the commencement of the CA-1 year. These call shifts are distributed across various departments, including general ORs, cardiothoracic/liver (CT), obstetrics (OB), and pediatrics (peds).
CT and OB call eligibility begins after completion of one week of those rotations while, pediatrics call eligibility begins after completion of a full month. All calls are followed by a post call day, with the exception of CT/liver 2nd call if you are not called back from home after 10 p.m.
Call frequency varies by rotation and time of year with resident eligibility, but overall averages 4-5 calls every month.
