Leadership Education in Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine (LEAP)
The LEAP track elective provides participating CA-3 residents with mentorship, formal education, and real work exposure to leadership in an academic medical center. It is designed for residents who aim to have leadership roles as part of their career.
Goals:
- Prime residents for future leadership roles in academic medicine.
- Provide residents with experience carrying projects in a leadership role.
- Allow residents to grow their exposure to leadership prior to graduation from residency.
Anesthesiology Clinical Educator (ACE)
The ACE track elective is designed to support the development of resident identity as clinician educators, particularly focused toward careers in academic medicine. Through opportunities such as completing a curriculum development or education scholarship project, engaging in teaching activities within and outside of the department, attending and presenting at an educational conference, and completing an educator development program, residents will be exposed to the wide array of activities clinician educators engage in.
- Provide access to robust, differentiated training and development in educational areas in order to support resident growth as clinical educators.
- Expose residents to areas of opportunity within the field of medical education in order to highlight future career opportunities and paths.

The ACE program is something I hope every resident in our program will consider! For me, it has been an opportunity to focus on preparing for the next steps in my career; becoming an attending who will teach others. In our residency program, we are allowed ample clinical experience from day one. The ACE track provides a step back from clinical duties to sharpen professional and teaching skills under the guidance of the wonderful Dr. Moquin. I have thoroughly enjoyed participating in this opportunity and would encourage others to pursue it.
