Alicia Ott, MA, LPC, Washu Medicine Staff Therapist, joins us to discuss emotional labor and invisible load, specifically emphasizing women. Alicia will share some work-life balance strategies and actionable approaches to help you find more equitable balance in your relationships and professional life. We’ll examine how emotional labor impacts mental health and burnout. While focused on women, all are welcome.

Alicia provides mental health treatment for WashU employees and their dependents. Alicia’s specialty is treating trauma in high functioning individuals. She holds multiple trauma therapy certifications, including Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), and Integrative Treatment of Complex Trauma (ITCT). Alicia is also trained as a Star Behavioral Health Provider for military personnel and their families. Alicia is currently pursuing her PhD. Her area of research (and passion) is the mental health and well-being of female medical faculty/professionals. Alicia also teaches psychology to undergraduate students. She is an avid runner and yogi who loves to read, attend comedy shows and musicals, and travel with her family.
