Bulacan Province, Philippines
Dr. Maxim Wolfson
The 2019-2020 WashU Medicine Regional Anesthesiology Fellows, Drs. Wolfson and Kurtz, traveled to Bulacan Province, Philippines, just outside of Manila, to provide regional and general anesthesia for underserved patients requiring surgery. This mission trip, sponsored by the Philippine Medical Association Medical Mission Foundation of Greater St. Louis, brought together medical professionals and volunteers from wide backgrounds to serve hundreds of underserved patients annually. The large team was able to help patients with medical, surgical, and pharmaceutical needs. Over the years, the Department of Anesthesiology has sent countless faculty and trainees to this important mission due largely to the dedication of revered faculty member, Dr. Necita Roa.
