We are pleased to announce the appointment of Brennan McMillan, MD, as the new Associate Clinical Director at Progress West Hospital (PWH), effective July 1, 2025. In this senior clinical leadership role, McMillan will help guide daily operations and strategic initiatives to promote excellent, efficient, and equitable care across PWH’s operating rooms and procedural areas. He will collaborate closely with Isabella Riordan, MD, Division Chief of Anesthesiology at PWH, to address clinical and administrative priorities, including scheduling, protocol refinement, quality improvement, and recruitment and retention.
“Dr. McMillan’s thoughtful, collaborative approach and clinical expertise have long stood out,” said Riordan. “He’s deeply committed to patient-centered care, and his leadership will be a tremendous asset to Progress West.”
McMillan earned undergraduate degrees in biology and neuroscience from the University of Colorado Boulder and completed his medical training at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. He began his residency at WashU Medicine’s Department of Anesthesiology in 2017 and has since become an integral member of the team. In 2021, he joined the faculty as an instructor and now serves as an assistant professor of anesthesiology, splitting his clinical time between PWH and the Center for Preoperative Assessment and Planning (CPAP).
The Progress West Division of Anesthesiology plays a vital role in patient care at PWH in St. Charles County. The team provides a comprehensive range of services, including surgical and procedural anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, and 24-hour support for the intensive care unit and emergency department. In addition, the division offers clinical leadership across the Medical Staff and Medical Executive Committees. The division is deeply aligned with the hospital’s mission of improving the health of the people and communities in St. Charles County.
We extend our sincere thanks and congratulations to Dr. McMillan. Please join us in welcoming him to his new leadership role and supporting his continued efforts to advance clinical excellence at PWH.
