Dear colleagues,
We are excited to announce the appointment of Trish Wilkinson, ACNP-BC, as the Director of APP Clinical Operations within the Division of Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology. In tandem, we are pleased to also announce Sarah Cooley, AGACNP-BC, and Shawn Reynolds, MS, MSPAS, PA-C, EMCAQ, as Co-Assistant APP Directors. These appointments will be effective starting March 18, 2024.
Sarah earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, in 2010, followed by her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree from Saint Louis University in 2015. Upon earning her BSN, she began her career as a staff Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Since joining our APP team in 2016, Sarah has played a vital role, contributing her expertise in the CTICUs of both Barnes-Jewish and Missouri Baptist (MoBap) hospitals. Sarah has been an APP Lead since 2020, and her primary focus has been on MoBap Hospital. She was instrumental in the MoBap Cardiovascular Recovery Unit expansion and establishment of APP workflow, processes, and relationships with our community partners. In addition, Sarah currently serves as a PIA Safe Champion.
Shawn received his Master of Science (MS) in Physician Assistant Studies from DeSales University in 2008. After graduation, he specialized in emergency medicine and trauma/neuro critical care at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, PA. Shawn joined our APP team in 2016 and became APP Lead soon thereafter with primary responsibilities in the surgical/burn/trauma ICU. He played a key role in our department’s expansion to 7800 Surgical ICU and integration of APPs into the ACT/Code team. In addition to Shawn’s clinical and leadership responsibilities, he has also completed training in WUDA Operational Excellence, Professional Development, ILE Coaching, and LEAD Coach. He is also about to receive an Executive Certificate in Strategic Leadership from Liberty University later this month. Currently, Shawn serves as a DEI Champion for our department and continues to remain active in the Army National Guard where he serves as a Senior PA and Flight PA.
Trish received her BSN from University of Missouri, St. Louis in 2003, followed by an MSN, ACNP from Saint Louis University in 2012. As a staff RN, she practiced in emergency medicine, labor and delivery, and critical care transport/flight nursing. Trish joined our APP team in 2012 where she assumed positions as APP Lead in 2015 and Assistant Director in 2021. She has been an integral member of our APP team in nearly every facet, particularly clinical operations. In addition to Trish’s clinical and leadership responsibilities, she also remains an active member of our United States Air Force Reserve where she has served as a Chief Nurse and more recently Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) to the Chief of Education and Training. She has completed Air War College and holds a Master of Military Art and Science. Trish is also passionate about the role of pet therapy and volunteers for Therapy Dogs International.
