COVID-19 infection linked to higher risk of neuropathy (Links to an external site)

Senior investigator Simon Haroutounian, PhD, chief of clinical research at the Washington University Pain Center alongside other researchers at Washington University School of Medicine have found that many people who tested positive for the coronavirus in the early months of the pandemic also experienced peripheral neuropathy during and following their bouts with COVID-19.

Boland appointed as Christian Hospital ICU Co-Director

Dr. Matthew Boland has been appointed to serve as Christian Hospital ICU Co-Director. In his new role as Co-Director, he will partner with CHNE Director, Dr. Uche Ofoma, to ensure delivery of outstanding clinical care to our critically ill surgical and medical patients at Christian Hospital Northeast. 

Menelaos Karanikolas, MD, MPH, appointed POD 5 Leader

Dr. Menelaos Karanikolas has been appointed the Anesthesiology Leader in POD 5. He will work closely with the WUSM and BJH perioperative leaders in supporting clinical staff and promoting safety, quality, and efficiency in perioperative care.

Dan Fernandez, MD, appointed POD 2 Leader

Dan Fernandez, MD, has been appointed POD 2 Leader in the Department of Anesthesiology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Fernandez will be partnering with WUSM colleagues, BJH perioperative leadership, and frontline clinicians in promoting safety, quality, and efficiency of perioperative care in POD 2.

Lattanand appointed as Vice-Chair for Clinical Operations

Chak Lattanand, MD, MBA, has been appointed as a Vice-Chair for Clinical Operations for Washington University’s Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Lattanand will provide crucial leadership, including managing the clinical business of the department, and providing expertise in the areas of financial clinical operations, strategic planning, and contract/affiliation negotiations and management.
