Dr. Dewey wins first place for research case at Missouri Society of Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting

Megan Dewey, MD, pediatric anesthesiology fellow, was selected to present her case study at the Missouri Society of Anesthesiologists (MSA) Annual Meeting in early April 2022. The poster session was open to all levels of trainees, and was an opportunity for medical students, residents, or fellows to submit case presentations and original research.

Dr. Dewey submitted her case titled “Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy in a Pediatric Patient,” which is a combination surgical procedure done on adult patients and was adapted for pediatric patients at St. Louis Children’s Hospital this past year.

Dr. Dewey and her team—including her mentors, Dr. Jessica Dominic and Dr. Ahalya Kodali—conducted the first true pediatric case late last summer (2021), and she presented the protocol development and intraoperative challenges related to this case during the MSA annual meeting in St. Louis.

Congratulations to Dr. Dewey for winning the poster session with this innovative case study! We look forward to watching you and your team continue to make advancements in pediatric medicine.
