Jamie Brown-Shpigel, MD, accepts POD 4 Leader role

The Department of Anesthesiology is pleased to announce that Jamie Brown-Shpigel, MD, has accepted a POD 4 Leader role.

In this important leadership role, Dr. Brown-Shpigel will partner with BJH Perioperative services, surgery, and anesthesia colleagues in creating and implementing policies and procedures in POD 4. She will work closely with department leadership to support clinical staff and promote both patient safety and quality and efficiency of perioperative care. Dr. Brown-Shpigel will also broaden our efforts to enhance teamwork, diversity and inclusion, and to ensure that POD 4 is a nurturing and safe environment for all members of the healthcare team, including residents, fellows, CRNAs, SRNAs, medical students, and nursing trainees. She has demonstrated great leadership potential and will be an excellent addition to the department clinical leadership team. In this important leadership role, Dr. Brown-Shpigel will be succeeding Dr. Molly McCormick.

Dr. Brown-Shpigel graduated from the University of Houston-Honors College in Houston, TX, where she was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society. She received her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center and completed her residency in Anesthesiology at Washington University School of Medicine in 2019. Dr. Brown-Shpigel is currently an Instructor in our General Anesthesia Division and also works as an attending in the Barnes-Jewish Hospital general operating rooms, as well as the Trauma service.
