We are pleased to announce that Branden Yee, MD, MPH, has been named the director of anesthesiology for the new Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), scheduled to open in May 2022. Dr. Yee has also been named associate division chief of anesthesiology for Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital (BJWCH).

In his role as director of anesthesiology for the ASC, Dr. Yee will oversee the planning and launch of this new clinical platform. This facility will specialize in ophthalmology and otology procedures with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency. Dr. Yee will be joined by the newly appointed CRNA team leads for the ASC, Katie Cass and Mary Jo Moeller. In addition to this exciting new opportunity, Dr. Yee will also assume the role of associate division chief of anesthesiology at BJWCH. The newly constructed BJWCH facility is a state-of-the-art short-stay surgical hospital that is recognized by The Joint Commission as a Center of Excellence in Orthopedic Joint Reconstruction and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Yee will work closely with hospital, nursing, and surgical leadership to support our clinical mission in the West County Division.

A graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine, where he earned his doctorate of medicine and masters in public health, Dr. Yee then went on to the University of Rochester Medical Center for his residency in anesthesiology. He joined the faculty at Washington University School of Medicine in 2012. In 2019, Dr. Yee became the director of anesthesiology for the Center of Advanced Medicine at South County. He has successfully led the development of clinical anesthesiology activities, serving as co-medical director with Steven Hunt, MD (Colorectal Surgery).

Dr. Yee has contributed significantly to the clinical mission of the department as a member of the Trauma Section, Regional and Ambulatory Anesthesia Division, and Case Review Committee. Notably, he is a graduate of the Washington University School of Medicine Academic Medical Leadership Program for Physicians and Scientists (2018). Dr. Yee is a superb clinical anesthesiologist and an outstanding educator.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Yee on his new role!
