Dr. Riordan recognized as December 2025 Physician of the Month at Progress West Hospital

Isabella Riordan, MD

Isabella Riordan, MD, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at WashU Medicine, was named December 2025 Physician of the Month by Progress West Hospital in recognition of her exceptional leadership, clinical excellence, and commitment to patient care.

Riordan has served at Progress West Hospital since 2018 and is currently the Anesthesia Clinical Service Chief, where she oversees quality of care, professional performance, and departmental operations. She is deeply involved in CRNA recruitment, onboarding, education, and evaluation, and supports Barnes-Jewish College clinical rotations and student shadowing at Progress West Hospital.

Known for her collaborative leadership and clinical expertise, Riordan plays a key role in advancing patient experience and perioperative quality. Under her leadership, Progress West Hospital’s patient satisfaction scores rank among the highest in BJC HealthCare, and the Outpatient Surgery team was recognized as a Patient Experience Top Performer in 2025.

“Progress West Hospital in O’Fallon, Missouri, serves its local community with a small, tightly knit medical staff. Dr. Riordan embodies this collaborative culture, often assisting in patient care beyond the usual procedural areas. Her leadership in the division promotes these values, benefiting both fellow physicians and the local community,” says Vice Chair for Clinical Operations, Chak Lattanand, MD, MBA.

Physician of the Month honorees are invited to the annual Barnes-Jewish St. Peters and Progress West Foundation Gala, and included for consideration in the Foundation’s Dr. Phil Orellana Legacy Award selection. A donation, in partnership with the Medical Executive Committees, will be made to the Butterfly Kisses Alliance on behalf of Riordan.

Congratulations to Dr. Riordan on this well-deserved recognition!
