Benjamin Sanofsky, MD, MS Ed, instructor in anesthesiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, was selected as the recipient of the Junior Faculty Pediatric Anesthesia Research Award by the Association of University Anesthesiologists (AUA) during the 2024 AUA Annual Meeting on March 22-23 in St. Louis.

Lou receives Best Research Abstract at the World Congress of Anaesthesiologists

Highlights from the Second Annual Women of WUDA Retreat
The Women of WUDA (Washington University Department of Anesthesiology) hosted its second annual retreat on Saturday, March 9, at Holmes Lounge on the Danforth Campus. Over 100 women from the department gathered to connect and network, hear from women in medicine, and participate in wellness activities.

Associate Professor, Bahaa Elgendy, PhD, and his colleagues are working to recapitulate the benefits of exercise with a pill. This discovery could lead to a new way to treat muscle atrophy and other medical conditions in people, including heart failure and neurodegenerative disease.

Revolutionizing Clinical Pain Research: A Shift Toward Patient-centered Engagement (Links to an external site)
The Initiative on Methods, Measurement, and Pain Assessment in Clinical Trials (IMMPACT), including Simon Haroutounian, PhD, MSc, and Katie Holzer, PhD, LCSW, brought together a diverse group of participants from academia, industry, funding and regulatory agencies, and people with lived experience (PWLE) of pain, to developed recommendations for advancing patient engagement in clinical pain research.
