Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Christian Hospital, Missouri Baptist Medical Center, and St. Louis Children’s Hospital ranked best hospitals by U.S. News & World Report

Four of the 12 hospitals staffed by Washington University Department of Anesthesiology providers have been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as some of the best hospitals in the city, state, and nation.

Congratulations to Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJH), Christian Hospital, Missouri Baptist Medical Center (MoBap), and St. Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH) for this incredible honor!

U.S. News & World Report surveyed more than 10,000 specialists and evaluated data from more than 4,500 hospitals across the U.S. Of these hospitals, 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions were evaluated.

Hospitals are ranked from 1 to 50 in each specialty, with hospitals not in the top 50 but still in the top 10 percent of all rated hospitals receiving a designation of “high performing.” Only 164 hospitals were ranked nationally in at least one specialty.

“High performing” in procedures and conditions indicates ranking in the top 10 percent nationally of all evaluated hospitals for that specialty or procedure and condition. To be nationally ranked in a specialty, a hospital must excel in caring for the sickest, most medically complex patients.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital

BJH ranked #1 in St. Louis and Missouri, and #11 in the nation. This marks the 29th year BJH has been on the U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll. BJH also nationally ranked in 11 specialties and ranked as “high performing” in all 20 Common Care Procedures and Conditions.
