Members of the Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis recently attended and participated in the International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) Annual Meeting in Denver, CO, on April 14-16. Three residents, four physicians, and one principal investigator presented on various topics throughout the weekend.

WashU had two fourth-year residents, Lauren Lagrimas, MD, and Dima Aladdin, MD, present cases in the competition.
Ashley Weinhold, MD, assistant professor in the Pediatric Anesthesiology division, was recently elected as a Clinical Representative to the Executive Committee of the Faculty Council (ECFC) at the School of Medicine.
Dr. Jose Moron-Concepcion, a professor at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been appointed to the National Advisory Dental and Craniofacial Research Council for a four-year term, advising on matters related to dental and craniofacial research, with a focus on opioid addiction and pain research.

The Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology is pleased to announce Hawa Abubakar, MBBS, has been selected as associate director for the Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology (ACTA) Fellowship. Dr. Abubakar will join Dr. Emmert in recruitment, education, and mentoring ACTA fellows.
