Dr. Laura Cavallone’s research on mGlu5 selected as editor’s choice by highly reputable pain journal, PAIN

Congratulations to Laura Cavallone, MD, whose research paper, “The Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 5 Negative Allosteric Modulator Fenobam: Pharmacokinetics, Side Effects, and Analgesic Effects in Healthy Human Subjects” was recently accepted and selected as the editor’s choice by the highly reputable Journal of the International Association for the Study of Pain.

The research is the result of a long project started with the hypothesis that mGlu5 is a mediator of pain sensitization and a viable target for a novel class of analgesics. Dr. Cavallone is a member of both the Washington University Pain Center and the Division of Clinical & Translational Research (DoCTR).
