Department ranks 2nd in country in NIH funding in 2020

The Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis has improved its national ranking among anesthesiology departments for funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), according to the 2020 Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research (BRIMR) rankings.

WashU's Department of Anesthesiology ranks No. 2 in NIH funding.

The department’s principal investigators were awarded more than $16.1 million in federal funding from the agency, six of whom ranked in the top 50.

Of the 140 institutions listed, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis ranked No. 8 for national funding to academic medical centers in 2020.
