Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Anwar Akhras has joined the Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University in St. Louis. He will have appointments in the Divisions of Critical Care Medicine and Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology.
Dr. Akhras obtained his undergraduate degree at Loyola University Chicago before then also completing his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. He then continued at Loyola University Medical Center to complete both his preliminary Internship in General Surgery followed by an Anesthesiology Residency. In 2019, Dr. Akhras joined us at Washington University School of Medicine, where he completed a Critical Care Fellowship program before joining the Department as an Instructor. He spent his time providing operating room anesthesia as well as critical care medicine services in the academic ICU’s, community ICU’s, as well as eICU telemedicine center. After spending this year as faculty, he pursued further training by completing a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology here at Washington University.
