Dear Colleagues –
We are delighted to announce that Dr. James Wirthlin has joined the Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University in St. Louis on July 1, 2022. Dr. Wirthlin is a Major in the Medical Corps of the United States Air Force. He is a part of the C-STARS (Center for the Sustainment of Trauma and Readiness Skills) program, which designate military clinicians into our civilian environment. He will have an Instructor appointment in the Divisions of Regional/Ambulatory and General Anesthesiology where he will perform his clinical work.
Dr. Wirthlin completed his undergraduate work at Brigham Young University, Utah before earning his MD at the Uniformed Services University in 2012. He completed some additional training in general surgery and otolaryngology, and 4 years as an operational flight surgeon before being recruited to the Department of Anesthesiology and our innovative residency program. This program provided him with the clinical training experience followed by a formal fellowship in Regional and Acute Pain. Thankfully, we have been successful in recruiting him to stay at Washington University in St. Louis as faculty.
Please welcome Dr. James Wirthlin as a new faculty member at the School of Medicine and Department of Anesthesiology.
Best wishes,
Mitchell & Molly
