Addressing LGBTQIA health

 This session is meant to serve as a primer and introduction into better understanding LGBTQIA+ health in the context of Academic Medicine. The session explores: 

  • the context for LGBTQIA+ health in academic medicine,
  • language surrounding LGBTQIA+ people and patients,
  • the dramatic upward trend in anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation during the past 5 years and the impact of anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation on the health and safety of LGBTQIA+ people, and
  • Analyze opportunities for our institution to serve as a national leader in advancing health equity for LGBTQIA+ health.
