Mehta appointed Associate Division Chief, General Anesthesiology

Following a search and a rigorous interview process, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Bhavi Mehta, MD, as the Associate Division Chief for General Anesthesiology, effective December 1, 2024.

In this role, he will partner with the chair, vice chairs, division chief, and clinical staff to develop strategic plans and provide guidance on clinical needs and administrative matters for the division. Collaborating closely with the Vice Chair for Clinical Operations and Division Chief of General Anesthesiology, Dr. Mehta will advise on staffing needs, including optimizing staffing levels and supporting recruitment efforts. Additionally, he will play an active role in recruitment and retention initiatives for both anesthesiologists and CRNAs, ensuring the division’s clinical excellence and operational effectiveness.

Dr. Mehta earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine and completed his residency in anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston, Texas. He joined WashU Medicine in 2020 and was appointed Director of Anesthesia Service in the Center for Advanced Medicine (CAM) Gastroenterology Suite in the fall of 2021. He will maintain this role alongside his new duties, continuing to work with WashU Medicine colleagues, Barnes-Jewish Hospital leadership, and clinicians to promote efficiency, safety, and excellence in patient care.
