New Division Administrator for Perioperative Medicine, Melissa Milbrandt

I am pleased to announce that Melissa Milbrandt has joined the Department of Anesthesiology on August 19th in the newly created role of Division Administrator for Perioperative Medicine. Melissa will be responsible for providing business and operational leadership for the division, including strategic planning and financial and operations management, with a particular emphasis on the innovative development of tele-health programs.

Melissa earned her undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Global Health at Washington University and her Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees from Saint Louis University. She previously worked here at Washington University School of Medicine as a Public Health Coordinator for the Institute of Public Health and has spent the past year as an Administrative Fellow at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver. In this latter role, Melissa created staffing models, conducted data analyses to improve workflow efficiencies, managed an EPIC optimization project, managed and facilitated a hospital-wide current state evaluation of inpatient units’ financial, staffing, and quality metrics, led leadership workforce management meetings, and tracked approvals and denials of all budgeted and unbudgeted positions across the hospital system and FY20 budgets.

Melissa brings wonderful experience and an enormous amount of energy and enthusiasm to our department, and we look forward to welcoming her into this important new role!
