Nykiel-Bailey appointed Associate Program Director for Residency Program

Following an extensive nationwide search and with several highly qualified and enthusiastic candidates applying, Dr. Sydney Nykiel-Bailey has been selected to serve as the Associate Program Director for the Anesthesiology Residency, effective immediately.
 
Dr. Nykiel-Bailey is a matriculant of the Kansas City University of Medicine. As a graduate of our anesthesiology program and pediatric anesthesiology fellowship here at Washington University, Dr. Nykiel-Bailey will bring a unique perspective and insight to the robust residency program leadership. We have been fortunate to have Dr. Nykiel-Bailey as a member of our department since 2011 where she has distinguished herself as a valued mentor and master clinician. Her continued impact on resident education has been evident in her work as the Director of the Pediatric Anesthesia Rotation and participation on the Pediatric Anesthesiology Education Committee. Dr. Nykiel-Bailey has developed expertise in the unique paradigm of medical education through earning an advanced teaching certificate from Harvard Medical School, and she is currently enrolled in the University of Missouri-Kansas City Medical School Master of Health Professions Education program. With this expertise, she will continue to develop innovative programs to enhance and enrich the educational experience of our residents, such as her development of a new Health Equity and Disparities Curriculum. We are fortunate to have such a positive role model join our program leadership and know she will share her unique perspectives and provide thoughtful leadership to guide and elevate our residency.
