WashU Medicine’s regional anesthesiology fellows visited Amsterdam University Medical Center in 2024, gaining insight into the European academic model and identifying quality improvement opportunities through a collaborative exchange with Dr. Holger Baumann.
Dr. Daniel Fernandez represented WashU Medicine at TARK 2023 in Turkey, presenting on regional anesthesia in trauma care and engaging in a global exchange of knowledge with international colleagues.
Joining a well-established mission trip, the 2019-2020 WashU Medicine Regional Anesthesiology Fellows, Drs. Wolfson and Kurtz, traveled to Bulacan Province, Philippines, to provide regional and general anesthesia for underserved patients requiring surgery.
Three of our physicians traveled to El Salvador as part of Surgical Outreach for the Americas (SoFA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to safe surgical care in resource-limited settings.
The ESRA Innsbruck Cadaver Workshop provided a hands-on, expert-led experience in refining regional anesthesia skills through practical sessions with fresh frozen and fixed cadavers, enhancing knowledge in ultrasound imaging and needling techniques.
A team of U.S. doctors, including Dr. Justin Knittel, provided medical care and support to Ukrainian children who had suffered from bombings and burns.
Dr. Justin Knittel works with the group “Doctors Collaborating to Help Children” to provide children in Ukraine with free plastic and reconstructive surgery.
The ESRA 6th World Congress on Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine in 2023 focused on global education, fostering collaboration, and promoting scientific advancements in regional anesthesia and pain medicine through cutting-edge presentations and knowledge sharing.
Dr. E. Aysu Salviz participated in the ESRA 41st Annual Congress in Prague, taking on multiple speaker and moderator roles promoting scientific collaboration, knowledge sharing, and advancements in regional anesthesia and pain medicine.
