Vijayasankar Muthu, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology who graduated from Thanjavur Medical College and completed his residency at Madurai Medical College in southern India. He has been part of the teaching faculty at Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University since April 2007 and has also served as Professor of Anesthesiology at Madras Medical College. With over 20 years of experience, he specializes in both pediatric and adult cardiac anesthesiology, and he chaired the Emergency Medicine department for two years at Kilpauk Medical College. His main area of interest is Extra Corporeal Life Support (ECLS).
He enjoys a happy family life with his wife, an OBGYN, and their daughter and son, cherishing quality time together. Passionate about teaching and known for his strong leadership, he also enjoys music, cooking, and playing soccer.
He is sincerely thankful to have worked with such remarkable colleagues and supportive staffs and feels truly honored to be recognized as the featured member of this distinguished department at WashU Medicine. He credits their support as essential to this accomplishment.

Clair Visconti is a Physician Assistant from Alton, Illinois. She earned a bachelor's degree in Health Sciences from the University of Missouri in 2016, and then earned a master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri in December of 2019. Clair has been with the Department of Anesthesiology at WashU for two years.
From the first time she stepped foot in an ICU as a student, Clair has been passionate about critical care. She is committed to providing thoughtful and compassionate care for her patients, and is dedicated to her continued education. She loves being able to work together with her colleagues as a team.
