When I reflect back on what helped me choose WashU, a couple things come to mind.
First, I was fortunate enough to visit St. Louis prior to rank list’s for residency being due, and what I found is that STL is a hidden gem. The city is Goldilocks-sized, with numerous urban attractions without the overcrowding, nonstop bustle, and traffic of bigger cities. I truly feel it has enough restaurants, sporting venues, breweries, and other elements to keep me busy and balanced when I am not at the hospital.
Second, I find the program to be well-rounded. WashU has a huge encatchment area, and with it brings a robust volume across all types of surgery and critical care cases. Given this in addition to the acuity of care, I knew the WashU experience would provide unmatched clinical exposure and training while helping people heal.
