Congratulations to Patricia Wilkinson, ACNP-BC, recipient of one of St. Louis Magazine’s 2021 Excellence in Nursing Awards for intensive care.
A member of the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Group in the Division of Critical Care Medicine, Wilkinson spends her nights treating patients with physical trauma, an area she was introduced to as part of a critical care transport team involving Air Force members in Iraq and Afghanistan. The APP group also cares for trauma, surgery, medical, oncology, and COVID-19 patients.
Trish has been a member of the APP leadership team for the past 5 years and was recently named the inaugural Assistant Director in recognition of her outstanding leadership abilities and expertise.
Described by her peers and her nominator for this award as a diligent, focused and fair leader, mentor, and friend, Wilkinson offered this advice to new nurses: “Be prepared to work your butt off, put patients’ needs before yours, work long shifts, be exhausted, and rarely celebrate a holiday on its actual day. If you can get past that, though, the rewards outweigh the sacrifices.”
