Brandon Tan, MD, PGY5 and an ASAP trainee, has been selected as one of the 2023 Dean’s Scholars. His project explores how the serotonin 3 receptor—implicated in nausea, depression, anxiety, and psychosis—changes its activity when the lipid environment is altered.

Department celebrates CRNA Class of 2022
Goldfarb School of Nursing, including the nurse anesthesia program, celebrated its commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Powell Symphony Hall. Overall, nine graduates completed their nurse anesthesia education and received a Doctor of Nursing Practice—the first cohort to graduate with a doctoral degree. Congratulations to the entire Class of 2022 Nurse Anesthesia cohort!

Bernadette Henrichs, PhD, CRNA, CCRN, CHSE, FAANA, received the 43rd Helen Lamb Outstanding Educator Award from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) for her significant contributions to the education of nurse anesthetists.

Megan Dewey, MD, pediatric anesthesiology fellow, won first place for her case study “Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy in a Pediatric Patient” at the Missouri Society of Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting in April 2022.
ASAP resident, Dr. Sunny Lou, awarded AMA grant to improve clinician efficiency and patient outcomes
Sunny Lou, MD, PhD, a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellow at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis was awarded $50,000 in funding to measure inpatient clinician work patterns and inter-professional communication from the American Medical Association’s (AMA) Electronic Health Record (EHR) use Metrics Research Project.
