Dr. Gurba has made significant contributions to the Acute Pain Service as a fellow, and even more so with her work as an attending on the service over the past year.
Dr. Anne Drewry, in addition to her current role as Division Chief of Critical Care, will be appointed as a Vice Chair in Washington University’s Department of Anesthesiology, effective July 1st 2021.
Qin Liu, PhD, associate professor and researcher at the Center for the Study of Itch & Sensory Disorders, recently published findings of specific cells and proteins that control the sneeze reflex that point to treatments capable of slowing the spread of infectious respiratory diseases.
The Department would like to recognize Elizabeth Whitlock, MD, MSc, assistant professor of anesthesiology and perioperative care at the University of California San Francisco, and alumna of Washington University School of Medicine (MD) and its MSc in clinical investigation program (ICTS TL-1), on the publication of the highly impactful paper “Association of Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting vs Percutaneous Coronary Intervention With Memory Decline in Older Adults Undergoing Coronary Revascularization” in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Dr. Hardy recently accepted the position of Vice President of Perioperative Services at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital and Medical Center of Chicago and Northwestern University.
Dr. Njoku will work closely with other senior leaders in the Anesthesiology Department, with Hospital and University leaders in St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and with institutional leaders in BJC and Washington University School of Medicine broadly.
Dr. Rao will work in collaboration with hospital and departmental leaders, as well as with pain division faculty, to further the Pain Management Division’s contributions to the missions of the Washington University Pain Center.
Ro Sandoval, research technician in the Moron-Concepcion Lab, was recently recognized by the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS).
