Members of our Division of Trauma Anesthesiology took part in the 57th Turkish Society of Anesthesiology and Reanimation Congress, held in Antalya, Turkey, from November 2-5, 2023. The team delivered insightful presentations that left an indelible mark on attendees.
Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, Chris Murphy, MD, presented on whole blood resuscitation, discussing data and outcomes from use at WashU.
Interim Division Chief of Trauma Anesthesiology, Justin Knittel, MD, discussed trauma-induced coagulopathy and its mechanisms, as well as correction and monitoring strategies.
Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, Zekeriyya Alanoglu, MD, DES, gave a lively talk on hypocalcemia in trauma, focusing on its prevalence as well as advantages of prompt correction and supplementation.
Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, Dan Fernandez, MD, presented on regional anesthesia in trauma, looking at trauma-specific cases where regional anesthesia was beneficial not only for pain control but for the surgical approach.
