Course Description: Every leader has the opportunity to shape a workplace where people can thrive. In this session, we’ll explore the CARE approach and discuss how creating clarity, amplifying belonging, reinforcing growth, and enabling ownership can transform the employee experience. You’ll leave with practical ideas and simple leadership practices you can immediately apply to build a workplace that’s both productive and enjoyable.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to describe at least 3 key elements of productive and enjoyable workplaces, identify at least 2 tactics to implement in your workplace to improve morale and/or productivity, and identify at least three colleagues across WashU with whom they can connect regarding Reflective Supervision.
Target Audience: This workshop is for all Washington University in St. Louis staff who serve as people managers and supervisors.
Facilitator: Ivory Woodhouse, Sr. HR Business Partner
Ivory partners with leaders to navigate the people side of business. She provides strategic guidance on employee relations, performance management, talent development, workforce planning, organizational change, and employee engagement, helping leaders build workplaces where both people and organizations can thrive. Grounded in both expertise and empathy, Ivory approaches HR as a strategic partner, coach, and trusted advisor. She is passionate about helping leaders navigate complex conversations, strengthen teams, and create cultures rooted in clarity, belonging, growth, and accountability. Her experience includes serving as an ELP Team Coach through WashU’s Institute for Leadership Excellence and working within HR teams at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, Amazon, and WashU. Ivory holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Concordia University Chicago and enjoys speaking on leadership, workplace culture, and employee experience. Outside of work, she enjoys sharing laughs with family and friends, reading, tennis, and music.
