Dear Colleagues,
Please join us in welcoming Patrick Yursik, our new Manager of Communications and Marketing, to the Department of Anesthesiology! This is a newly created and important position. We have consulted people across the Department about deficits and opportunities. One message has been broadcast clearly by many of you: we need better communication, both within our Department and to those who are interested in our Department. That message has been received and internalized; going forward, communication will be a top priority.
Patrick has a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Communications from Spring Hill College and will be joining us from Washington University’s University College, located on the Danforth campus, where has worked as the Marketing and Social Media Coordinator for the past five years. In this role, Patrick was responsible for maintaining several websites, curating social media platforms, and designing comprehensive communication solutions. Prior to working at Washington University, Patrick worked at Saint Louis University as the Web Marketing Coordinator for the Parks College of Engineering, Aviation, and Technology, and also for Integrity Media, Inc. in Mobile, AL.
In his new role with us Patrick will be responsible for developing and leading the full scope of communications and marketing efforts, geared toward enhancing the Department’s visibility and reputation across its clinical, education, and research program missions. He will manage all aspects of communications and marketing functions, including the new and improved department website, internal communications, executive communications, printed and digital communications, social media, photography, multimedia, design, and working with Medical Public Affairs on national and local media relations.
Overall, Patrick’s qualifications are impressive and his track record is impeccable. He is extremely well suited to this critically important new role in our Department. We are fortunate to have found a person of his caliber, and are delighted that Patrick has agreed to join our Department. Please work closely with Patrick to enable him to be successful in improving communication and in promoting the many amazing accomplishments across our Department.
Thanks very much,
Michael Avidan, Barry Guild, and Anne DeSchryver
