We are all deeply saddened about Karen Seibert’s passing. Karen Seibert served Washington University and the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis (previously Saint Louis College of Pharmacy or STLCOP) as the Executive Director of the Center for Clinical Pharmacology (CCP). The best tribute we can pay to Karen is to continue her fabulous work in developing the Center as a premier research organization and ensuring her legacy.
Dr. David Perlmutter (Dean, Washington University School of Medicine), John Pieper (President, University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis) and I, Michael Avidan (Anesthesiology Department Head, Washington University School of Medicine), jointly approached Dr. Alex Evers and asked him to serve as the Interim Director of CCP. He has graciously agreed to do so on the firm understanding that this is a temporary role.
Dr. Evers (the Henry S. Mallinckrodt Professor of Anesthesiology and Professor of Developmental Biology [Pharmacology] and Internal Medicine) will be an outstanding Interim Director of CCP. During his tenure as Head of the Anesthesiology Department at Washington University, he was a founder of CCP and contributed much to its many ongoing successes. As such he is fully committed to the Center’s continued vibrancy and growth.
The leaders of Washington University School of Medicine and the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis are deeply grateful to Dr. Evers for his ongoing service and leadership. He will be a steadying influence in these challenging times and will participate in all Center activities. He will ensure that the CCP does not skip a beat as we all examine its priorities and move promptly to recruit a dynamic and visionary permanent Center Director.
