We are pleased to announce that Dr. Bradley Fritz has graciously agreed to serve as Associate ICU Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. In his new role as Associate Director, he will partner with SICU Co-Directors, Dr. Anne Drewry and Dr. Sara Buckman, and nursing leadership to ensure delivery of outstanding clinical care to our critically ill surgical patients.
Dr. Fritz obtained his medical degree and a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation at Washington University School of Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Fritz joined our department’s Academic Scholars Advancement Program (ASAP), where he completed his residency in Anesthesiology, mentored research training, and a Critical Care Medicine fellowship. He joined the Department of Anesthesiology Divisions of Critical Care Medicine and Clinical and Translational Research as a faculty member on July 1, 2020. In addition to his clinical and administrative roles in the intensive care unit, Dr. Fritz devotes himself to clinical research and was recently awarded a Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research Mentored Research Training Grant. His research interests focus on applying machine learning techniques to improve patient care during the perioperative period.
Dr. Friz is an outstanding clinician-scientist and a passionate advocate for critically ill patients. As both a critical care fellow and faculty member, Dr. Fritz distinguished himself for his numerous contributions to the Surgical Intensive Care Unit through his active roles on the Quality Improvement and Outcomes Committees. He led several projects that positively impacted the way in which we provide care to our patients in the intensive care unit. We are delighted that he has accepted this new leadership position and look forward to working with him in his new role.
