The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and the Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA) have selected Rachel Moquin, EdD, as a 2025 recipient of the ASA-SEA Distinguished Educator in Anesthesiology Award.
This national honor recognizes anesthesiology educators who have made significant contributions to advancing and sharing knowledge in the field, while promoting the critical link between education and superior patient care.
“I’m deeply honored to receive this award and grateful to my colleagues and mentors who have supported my growth as a health professions educator,” said Moquin. “Investing in the professional growth of our faculty and trainees not only advances our field, but also ultimately improves the care patients receive every day.”
Moquin serves as Associate Vice Chair for Faculty and Educator Development in the Department of Anesthesiology at WashU Medicine and is an active member of the Academy of Educators. Her work reflects a deep commitment to fostering faculty growth, supporting educational innovation, and shaping the next generation of anesthesiology educators. She facilitates the “Developing Expertise in Clinical Education” program for early-career clinical educators, developed and oversees the Anesthesiology Clinical Educator (ACE) CA-3 elective track, and leads the department’s annual Clinician Educator Workshop series, which features sessions led by fellow educators.
“Dr. Moquin’s work centers on empowering educators to excel,” said Allison Mitchell, MD, Vice Chair for Education. “Her ability to design programs that are both visionary and practical has elevated the quality of education in our department. She inspires and supports educators at every stage of their careers.”
Moquin will be formally recognized during the ASA annual meeting, taking place October 10–14, 2025, in San Antonio.
